EMBOLIZATION FOR ORAL & NASAL BLEED
What is oral/nasal bleed embolization:

⦁ It is procedure to block leaky blood vessel and thus stop bleeding from nose or mouth.
⦁ In oral bleeding patients, it is most commonly seen in mouth cancer patients after chemo-radiotherapy. So this procedure is helpful to stop bleeding in those patients.
⦁ In nasal bleeding, this procedure is helpful to those patients who have continuous bleeding even after nasal packing.

How it worked:

⦁ Bleeding in oral cavity/ in nasal cavity is occurring due to leakage of blood vessel from the wall of cavity.
⦁ There are multiple reasons for leakage of blood vessels but only way to stop blood leakage is blockage of leak blood vessels.
⦁ It is done with very small pinhole in IR technique without any open surgery.
⦁ In IR technique, we insert very small holotube into that blood vessel and block it with embolizing material.

What are benefits:

⦁ It is minimally invasive and day care procedure.
⦁ Most patients experience immediate relief from bleeding.
⦁ It is safer and effective.

Preparation for procedure:

⦁ Few basic blood investigations like CBC, PT/INR, viral markers.
⦁ Bring all the records including imaging record.
⦁ Signing consent form.

What are risks:

⦁ Very rare, thromboembolism or infection (<1 case in 1000).
